Norvég kapcsolat
Norvégia
2008 március 7-én 6, mindenre elszánt, xántusos diák Grabant Anita tanárnővel kiegészülve, elindult a skandináv országok egyikébe, a gyönyörű Norvégiába.
Másnap, ébredezvén, újabb sokkhatás ért minket: A TÁJ!

Norway and Hungary (21 October - 26 October)
It has been a pleasure to spend a few days with such nice students from Norway.
It happened on the 21st October when the Norwegian delegation arrived at Ferihegy Airport. I knew the girl whom host I was, because we had been speaking on the Internet before she arrived. Her name is Julianne and I am happy to got know a girl like her. We had many things in common, so we were able to speak about them during her stay. Her English was quite good and she was not afraid from speaking in English so this made the whole situation easier.
In the first evening we went on a hockey match because I knew previously that she loves sports and my cousin plays ice hockey, so I decided to show her how it goes here in Hungary. It was so much fun and as she told me she liked it, however she has never seen a hockey match before.
On the next day they went on a sightseeing tour to the Danube Bend. They visited the Visegrád Palace and they had lunch at a medieval restaurant, they liked it pretty much. In the evening we met them at the Vigadó Square. We could enjoy a whole hour on the Danube on the board of the so-called Legenda sightseeing boat. It was a great experience to see Budapest at night from the river. Actually it is a beautiful city, but in the evening, as every sight of it is floodlit it is amasing. The next program was to visit a shopping centre called Mammut, where they could shop around a little bit. After this exhausting program we ate delicious big pancakes, which they enjoyed.
The following day, 23rd October is a National Day in Hungary, so everything is closed. On the other hand, as everybody knows at least from the news there were demonstrations in the city, and that is the reason why we decided to go to Cegléd where one of my friend lives and it is about 70 km far from Budapest. The girl whom guests we were also had a Norwegian exchange student. We had great time together, as my other friends came as well, so we could show them many interesting Hungarian habits. They were happy to try traditional Hungarian food and at the end of the day we showed them a traditional Hungarian confectionery. This was the place where we tought each other words both in Hungarian and Norwegian.
On the 24th October they had the chance to visit the Parrliament and afterwards the Sinagogue in Budapest. We saw presentation of the countries and the schools. Furthermore, we had some free time before going to the Palace of Arts, which is situated on the Pest side of the Danube. We saw Carmina Burana in a contemporary performance. In the evening we had the chance to go to a party, which was excellent.
The last day was all about their travelling back. We met at the Airport with the others, we said Goodbye and they left.
It was the saddest part to say Goodbye, but we knew that we will meet soon and that made it much easier.

Our Norwegian trip
Friday 7th March 2008
I packed my suitcase with warm clothes and ski equipment on Thursday evening. It was not easy because the weight limit is fifteen kilos. On Friday morning I had to get up early in the morning because we met our schoolmates at 10 o'clock. Our first destination was Oslo From there we flew to Vigro and after that we went by bus to the ferry and on the other side of the fjord the hosts were waiting for us. Fifteen minutes later I was talking to my host family while having dinner.
Saturday 8th March 2008
After my first night in Norway a piece of brown cheese was waiting for me with strawberry jam for breakfast on the table. It was very strange for a Hungarian boy who usually eats bread and ham. After breakfast we went to the city school where a volley ball competition was organised for us. It was the first time we had met those people who we would work with on the project. the next week Five group participated and our team won. After the competition we had lunch in the school canteen. In the evening one of the hosts. Marta, organised a taco party. We could make our taco so it was fun because I met some other students from Norway. We changed our e-mail adresses and went to a farm party, which was held in a small house with a big garden. We enjoyed it a lot.
Sunday 9th March 2008
When I woke up Iwas tired because of the last day but we had to leave for Marta. With 7 other people we visited a little island by boat. This island is famous in Norway because only one man lives there with thirty sheep and one dog. His duty is to maintain the lighthouse. I could not enjoy the boat trip because I was sea sick. This is the last island near the Norwegian shores on the way to England. On this small island many flowers and plants grow. After that the man told us interesting things about the island and he cooked a meal and we had lunch together. That was the day when we started to get to know the people and their lifestyle. When we returned from the island we had dinner in a fastfood restaurant in the center of Alesund. We were so tired that we went to bed immediately.
Monday 10th March 2008
It was a hard day because we worked all day long. The first step was that the Norwegian teachers introduced themselves and the project. The project had five topics for the five groups.
I had to work on the second task. It was difficult for me because Hungary does not have many ski slopes. We started the work with writing notes and collected pictures on the internet. Every group had an own teacher, ours was Alma, she was from Poland. I had some ideas about how we could develop the ski resort in Sykkylven, for example by building a small restaurant on the top of the mountain. In the afternoon Rebecca and me went to the gym where she works.
Tuesday 11th March 2008
The Norwegian and Belgian teams introduced their country, school and city. After it we continued the project. We began to work on the power point presentation. During the work we laughed a lot. We finished it at 12 o'clock and we went to Alesund where we could go shopping and take some photos of the view from the famous lookout tower. In the evening me and my host went to a football training. It was funny because the temperature was zero and we played on a fake grass pitch. While I was wearing trousers, two pullovers, a scarf, hat and gloves they were wearing only shorts and a pullover. After it I ate some traditional Norwegian food. It was like meatballs with smashed peas and tomato sauce.
Wednesday 12nd March 2008
The day started very well because we were late from school. When we arrived the Polish team had already started their presentation about Krakow. We were the next, the Hungarians. I had to talk about Xántus János Secondary School for Tourism and Hotel Management. At the end we got a big applause but the the groups had to work more. One team got some help because we went to the aquarium where we could feed some see fish with prawn. We had to fill in a test about the aquarium. This trip was interesting for everyone. My afternoon programme was a football training without Rebecca. This evening I had to watch a famous series. Its title is Desperate Housewives. It was horrible during so I fell asleep.
Thursday 13rd March 2008
The last day arrived. We were a bit sad. We started a day with yoghurt and salmon. After breakfast we went to the school. The work was waiting for us although we almost finished it. The Belgian teacher ,Hugo, gave us some tips about how we could make our presentation even better. Our Power Point included twelve worksheets. I had to talk about the restaurant and the view. When the groups finished the introductions the hosts and guests went to the ski run where we could try cross country skiing and snow house building. We were hungry so we grilled on the snow. It was funny so everybody enjoyed it. After it a host held a farewell party where we played sing star and ate a lot. We finished the week with this night.
